Rhomberg Rail Australia acquires WA overhead wiring specialist
Rhomberg Rail Australia, one of the country’s leading rail track design, construction and maintenance providers, has today announced its acquisition of Perth-based overhead wiring business, EM-Rail. The purchase will not only provide immediate penetration into the Western Australia rail infrastructure market and build on the good work to date by Rhomberg Rail’s small construction team out West, but also establish a combined track and overhead solution to meet current market demands in the company’s existing markets on the east coast.
With a focus on the construction, maintenance and asset management of overhead line equipment (OLE), EM-Rail has been providing OLE services to both private and public sectors across Australia for over 17 years. Their main areas of service are construction, maintenance and operation of OLE systems and rail traction power; testing and commissioning of OLE systems; traction earthing and bonding; providing purpose built road rail vehicles and equipment; and technical expertise and consultation.
The purchase of this well-established and well-respected company fits into Rhomberg Rail’s strategy to provide a wide range of complimentary services and position itself in a strong place as it ventures further into the major projects space.
‘This is a smart acquisition for Rhomberg Rail Australia. EM-Rail are experts in the overhead wiring field, well respected across the industry and have a similar direct delivery philosophy,’ said Richard Morgan, Rhomberg Rail Australia’s Managing Director. ‘This is a bold step into the future for us and we are thrilled to not only offer clients the best above- and below-rail services but to build on the momentum both our companies have generated over the past few years and accelerate our share of the track and overhead wiring space.’
The full integration of EM-Rail within Rhomberg Rail Australia will be a gradual process over the next 12 months. There will be no staff re-organisation or major adjustments to project delivery with EM-Rail continuing to service their existing overhead wiring contracts.
